Introduction to a Headhunter

I often explain to people that I don’t find people jobs for a living I find people for jobs. A subtle distinction I had to get through my mind early in my career, and that most people don’t ever really understand.  Like most valuable concepts there is a tension inherent in that distinction:  I want to know as many talented people as I can, but can’t do anything with them unless I have access to a position for which they are a fit.  That sums up the dilemma of the sole proprietor/recruiter.   That is  why I partner with other savvy recruiters who work like me.  We are able to leverage networks of candidates and positions in order to help the largest amount of  people we can (ourselves included).

This is a fascinating way to make a living.  I feel like I have a perspective few people get to see.  The challenge is both to get the word out about opportunities  and also control the flow enough to deliver quality on both sides of the employment equation. Change is a constant, as is learning new lessons daily.
